2:42 pm - Joel
and the kayakers drift while collecting donations
at Moodie's Bay beach
|
The kayakers left Long Island
at 9 am, lunching at Black Rapids Locks. Here
we raided the last stashes of brownies and Joe
Louis half moons, before loading up on hamburgers
and sausages, care of Robinson's Independent.
Then, for the last and final
time, everybody loaded into their kayaks for the
afternoon paddle into Ottawa. We made a couple
of quicks stops: first at Moodie's (or is it "moony's"?
;) Bay beach where we raised a few more dollars
for the cause, and then at Dows Lake where some
of the road crew members jumped on the pontoon
boat to join the fleet.
It was quite a spectacle as
the 30+ kayaks made their way through the final
curves of the canal, cheering "Kayaking for
Cancer"!
