back | day 4>
After lunch we continued across Clear Lake to Newboro
Lake, then through Newboro locks into Upper Rideau
Lake. Dan Lachance in the support boat and the kayakers experienced their first rough water when entering the Upper Rideau. Thankfully no problems occurred as we were close to our evening destination at Narrows Lock. Betty and Peter Ivy supplied dinner for the K4C team and Kevin thanked them for their generosity. This is the
highest point of the Rideau Canal. We
have now negotiated 14 locks and climbed 50 Metres
(164 feet). From here the Canal drops 83
Metres (273 feet), through 31 locks to the Ottawa
River. |
