back | day 8 >
In the afternoon we departed for Long Island Locks in Manotick. We ran into severe winds with some rain and were forced to put our kayaks ashore a few kilometers from our destination. We would like to thank Kelly Hazell and Jamie-Lynn Meisner for their warm hospitality. These folks opened their homes to all of us and we are most grateful to them. The ground crew brought equipment to pick up our beached kayaks and we all continued via ground transportation to the Locks in Manotick. It was a very cold windy night, one that we have not experienced in the many years of our event. Fortunately at the end of the day a great dinner was provided to us by Art and Bev Curry. Meat balls were great.
Tomorrow it's
on to Ottawa! Another 26 km completed, only
23 more to go. In total we will kayak 202
km.
