Welcome back to our thirteenth consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!

Day 1

Our first year with Kayaking for Cancer, first day, and Kevin asked if we could provide a blip for the daily journal.

First impressions... Awesome! After some touching words regarding those we've lost and those fighting the battle, 31 kayaks were underway.... amongst the Poker Run boats, sail boats, and spectators along the shore.

Over the course of the day we met many wonderful members of the group and were made to feel most welcome as newcomers. It's apparent that everyone has a personal reason for taking part in this journey, as some stories were shared while paddling. Similar to most everyone, we've had friends and family members touched by cancer. Some we've lost and others are still fighting the battle or have won. Doing this paddle allows us in a small way to be supportive of the challenges they face. With one day behind us and seven more to go, it's comforting to have our own supporters who generously contributed to the cause, as well as a wonderful group of volunteers backing up the venture and making it truly possible.
