Welcome back to our eighteenth
consecutive year of Kayaking for Cancer!
Today is the start of our third day on the water. This is my ninth year of paddling and it is as overwhelming as the first. We come together for one week as a family sharing stories laughing and crying together. It’s good to see old friends and to make new friends. We have three new paddlers this year; Victoria and Ken, father and daughter team, and Dan the husband of Cindy who joined us last year. For many of us we are thinking of an old friend who passed away this year. Sir Bernard of the Rideau was a big part of our group and will always be remembered.
I paddle for my mother, father and the many friends I have lost through the years. Joining kayaking for cancer has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life and I’m happy and proud to call this small group of dedicated people family for a week. We will continue to paddle on.
