DAY 7 (page 2 of 4): Friday, August 15, 2003

7:47 pm
- Rick, Scott and Jessica load extra boats onto the trailer.

We also had some more kayakers join our group and they'll be paddling with us for the last two days. So right now, the fleet is 30 boats strong and we'll likely have 40 total entering Ottawa.

This morning we woke up to a beautiful morning, the sun was shining and there's no sign of rain. The kayaks left at 10 am, heading for Hurst Marina where Beveridges IGA is hosting a lunch BBQ for us. Kevin had a chance to mention it on the Lowell Green show, and with the state of emergency in effect, we had a really good turnout.

The Beveridges group served up quarter chickens, salads, pie and fresh fruit to the crowd and it was just what we needed. Kevin presented Jim Beveridges with a plaque on behalf of the team to thank them for their great support over the past three years.
